How Long Does ADT Installation Take

It probably wont take as long as you think. Ocassionally I run into someone who expects it to be this whole day ordeal where they have to clear their schedule and sit around waiting. It is actually not like that at all.

A typical ADT installation in a standard Bucks County home takes somewhere between two and four hours with it occasionally taking less time then that (occassionally, dont expect it to). That is it. You are protected by the end of the same afternoon in most cases.

What Affects How Long It Takes

The main thing that affects installation time is how many devices you are getting installed. A basic system with a control panel, a few door contacts and a motion detector goes pretty fast. Add cameras, a video doorbell, smart locks, a thermostat, garage door control, that adds time.

The size of your home matters too. A smaller house or townhome in Warminster or Chalfont is going to go quicker than a larger colonial in Buckingham or Lower Makefield with a big property and multiple access points to cover. Nothing dramatic either way, just something to keep in mind when you are planning your day.

What Happens During Installation

The technician comes to your home, does a walkthrough with you to understand your layout and your concerns, and then gets to work. They are professionals who do this every day. They know how to work efficiently and they are not going to tear your walls apart or leave a mess behind. Trust me also when I say they dont want to be there a minute longer then they have to because they get by the size of the job and how many jobs they do. If ADT says it should take them 2 hours and it takes them 4 they make less money per hour then they would prefer. But they will not rush things either. If they have to come back to fix a mistake they made they wont expect to get paid for it so they want things to go right as much as you do.

Once everything is installed they walk you through the whole system before they leave. How to arm and disarm, how to use the app, what to do if the alarm goes off, how to add family members to the account. You should feel completely comfortable before they walk out the door. If you do not, ask them to go over it again. That is what they are there for and again, they dont want to come back out because they didnt take the time to show you something you felt was important.

Can You Get Same Day Installation in Bucks County

A lot of the time yes. I tell people to call me and we go from there. Same day is not always guaranteed but it happens more often than people expect, especially in upper Bucks County where I am based out of Perkasie. Next day is almost always doable.

The thing that holds people up most is just waiting too long to call. They think about it for a few weeks, then something happens in the neighborhood and they want it done immediately. Call early and you will have a lot more flexibility on scheduling.

Do You Need to Be Home

Yes. You need to be there for the whole appointment. The technician needs access to your home and they will also need to go over the system with you when they are done. Whoever is there needs to be 18 or older and apointed by you as someone you trust to know how to disarm your system.

If you have pets just let me know when we are setting things up. The technicians deal with dogs and cats all the time, it is not a problem, but it is helpful to know in advance so nothing catches anyone off guard.

If you want to get on the schedule give me a call. I am local, I am in Bucks County, and I can usually get things moving faster than people expect. 215-872-7473.
